How the Chinese gender calendar works (and what it is not)

The chart people share as the ‘Chinese gender calendar’ maps the mother’s lunar age against the lunar month of conception, then colours the square boy or girl. It is folklore dressed as an imperial secret.

Our Calendar page uses a compact version of that grid. You enter lunar age and month; it returns a playful guess. It does not know your cycle, your IVF dates, or your baby’s chromosomes.

If the chart and the peek disagree, that is the point of a party: two stories, one bump, plenty of cake. If they agree, enjoy the coincidence. Either way, your sonographer is still the grown-up in the room.
